Meet the Boys Varsity Basketball Team
September 29, 2023 Kelechi Nwokoro | Staff Writer
As tryouts for Boys Basketball end, let’s take a look at some of the players from the varsity team; some new faces and some familiar faces. On September 21, 2023, I was able to get interviews with Brian Ash and Quinones Fleeton before practice started at the Westlake Charter K-8 gym.
The purpose of this Q&A is to learn more about the team, especially the newer players that either just transferred or are freshmen. I started with Quinones also known as Q due to him being one of the two freshmans on varsity.

How does it feel to be a freshman on varsity?
It’s a great feeling. I feel like I have a lot to prove since I’m a freshman.

Next, I was able to grab a quick interview with Brian Ash who played for the Inderkum Tigers last year.
When was the first time you played basketball?
I was in the 4th grade when I first met Coach Bo and he asked me to play for his team which was the Aloha Warriors.

How does playing at Westlake differ from playing at Inderkum?
There’s more people that were at Inderkum than Westlake.
The Expedition would like to thank both players for taking time out of their day to do this interview. Make sure to come to their first game in November and to find more articles like this check out more of The Expedition website.
