Key Club is a club that encourages students to help other people. Key Club members take time out of their day to help and support the community after school or during school!
Westlake Charter High School (WCHS) is proud to have a Key Club in their school. The president of this club is Harleen Sagar, the vice president is Vanessa Quon and the lieutenant governor is Amelia Gaspar. So far, the Key Club has helped in volunteering in a few places like at William Land Fall Carnival and at the Jibe Trunk Or Treat Packing.
Key Club cooperates with school principals and teachers to provide for students with invaluable experiences in living and working together and to prepare them for useful citizenship. The Key Club allows you to learn initiative, leadership and management skills by serving their communities and schools.
Amelia Gaspar, the lieutenant governor of WCHS Key Club, shared why Key Club is important. “Key Club is important because it gives students the chance to form a strong bond with those in their community and outside of their community. There are so many opportunities for members to expand their perspective on the world through the people they meet and the trips they go on. It's an important way for high schoolers to get involved in a fun, extremely rewarding way.”
Amelia Gaspar also shared her thoughts on what you can learn from Key Club. “There are many things you can learn from Key Club. The main thing that members end up polishing through Key Club are their leadership skills. Though there are officer positions, there are many times where members get to step up at division or regional events and be a leader there. I myself have learned to be a better public speaker and push myself out of my comfort zone. I think Key Club is a great way to prepare yourself for college as it allows you to develop the skills you need for it!”
The fall carnival is located at William Land Elementary School on October 13, 2023. They held a Fall carnival for William Land students and their families. WCHS Key Club members were able to volunteer at concession stands, game booths, prize booths, help with the raffle and cleaning.

Jibe Trunk or Treat was on October 18, 2023. Key Club members helped a team create goodies for a trunk or treat coming soon. They were able to learn prescission, creative skills and to help give back to the community with these goodies.

Noor Abbas, a member of the Key Club, shared her thoughts on the meaning of Key Club.“Key Club is where our school community can get together and they can support our entire community not just our school but outside.”
Noor also shared her experience when she volunteered in a Jibe trunk or treat. “My experience was good. I learned to roll maps and how to give back to the community. The services that they gave were very helpful and it was a lot of fun.”
At Westlake Charter High School you can also get the opportunity to go to fun places like Six Flags if you volunteer for a lot of hours in Key Club. As this club helps encourage and help our community, it's also a lot of fun. Consider signing up for Key Club whenever you get the chance. You can join by joining their google classroom, their Google Classroom code is on the WCHS wall. If you miss the chance to join this year, be sure to join it next year.
